Return Thank You! Party Pictures

Sparrow and I headed out early to go up and hang out with Feverdream before the party. We hung out for a few hours playing with his cats and rat and got ready for the party. Around 5:00 PM and helped out the One World One Dance crew setting up, it was crazy awesome!

The wind was intense and the dust was flying around all over the place which made me very thankful that I had glasses. It helped, but I agree with what Feverdream said that swimming goggles would have been better! Once all the equipment was up we realized that the static electricity that was being created by the tarps could pose a threat of creating an electric shock to surge through the equipment. This is normally not a problem because the equipment is normally grounded though the socket, however generators have a false ground which would not protect the equipment or the DJ spinning, so we had to come up with an alternative.

Sparrow was there and we all figured that the way electricity works you need a large surface area to allow the electrical current to ground out to. Normally that would be a long pole pounded into the ground which would meet with the underground water levels. If a static charge was sent it follows the path of least resistance and flows out into the ground into the water dispersing until there is no charge. Since we could not do the correct grounding we figured that the surface area of a car would be sufficient enough to disperse the charge. We connected the two generators to Sparrow's undercarriage via jumper cables. When everything was set we started the two generators and Feverdream started spinning some tunes.

Around 8:00 PM one of the generators ran out of gas and all the lights went out. Shadow knew that this was going to happen all night because the gas tank on his generator was small, so we plugged the lights into where we plugged the equipment to. Granted it probably wasn't the best for the equipment but it did have a neat side effect. When the bass kicked all the lights dimmed with the music. In essence we had lights that went to the beat and gave a neat strobe effect.

The first car of people showed up around 9:30 PM and to my wonderful surprise it was MissE, Trojan Man, and one other that I didn't know. By 11:00 PM the party was going pretty well. The music was bumping and the people were dancin'. Around 3:00 AM a slew of car headlights started showing up. We found out that Yellow got shut down and people were heading out to continue their need to party.

It was around 5:00 AM when we noticed people start to leave. Around 5:30 AM the second generator ran out of gas. Fortunately someone had a gas can and let Shadow borrow it to finish out the party. At 10:00 AM a few people went over to help Cheeseburger get his van unstuck and then headed out ourselves.

All in all it was a really awesome party; I really like the outdoor events. Granted the indoor events are really cool too because you don't have to worry about the weather conditions, but since I spent most of my life in Tahoe, hanging out under the stars is just something that I've grown to love and miss out seeing down here in Southern California. I hope that everyone who went had an awesome time! I'm going to be going back home for a few months so you all won't see me down here except for EDC! See you all in September!
